Because you Deserve a Good Night’s Rest

Are Microfiber Sheets a Good Choice?

Cuddly catWhen you go shopping you are likely to find bed sheets made of many different threads. What exactly is Microfiber?

There are variations in the threads, with a blend of cotton, polyester, and nylon being the most common Microfiber. In fact the term microfiber refers to any fiber where the strands are less than a denier in width; a denier is a measurement that is used to identify the fiber thickness of the individual threads. Apart from bed sheets you may have seen the term when buying pantyhose or stockings. A denier is extremely fine, three times more so than cotton. This makes for very soft sheets.

Some complain of static with these sheets but this seems to be the only downside. This is easy to correct with a fabric softener like BOUNCE in the drier when they are washed.

 The advantages of Microfiber Sheets

  • They  need no ironing; they do not wrinkle
  • They do not develop cotton balls
  • They are durable and seem to last forever.
  • If liquid spills it will bead up and be easy to wipe off the sheet leaving no stain
  • There is a significant price advantage over all other sheets, especially King and Cal King.
  • In the summertime these sheets breathe so you don’t sleep all sweaty.

Deep Pocket Sheets
All sheets now add extra inches for deep pocket mattresses but some are better than others. Always check the measurements which will be listed on the packaging.

Green, blue and beige sheets

You may well find you want to switch to microfiber sheets, the ultimate in comfort.

Photo-to-Artwork

A very personal gift: A Picture Lady Photo-to-Artwork

Create a unique picture for each child or grandchild

Photo-to-Artwork is the ideal gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day or Christmas.

This is because it is so personal and unique; something really special. If your parents have downsized, you may want to consider a collage where you are able to put many family pictures into one frame. You create this work of art together with Picture Lady and there is no extra charge for making a collage, as there is also no extra charge for photo-restoration. In this collage above there is a special scripture and you can always add this as a family inspiration. One customer wrote a short poem for a new baby and included it in her collage, another wanted to remember her very special Mother’s Day Card and we put this in the center, with family pictures all around. Photo-to-Artwork is about making and keeping good memories and passing them down through the generations.

Prices for a Photo-to-Artwork creation:

  • 8×10″      $55.00
  • 11×14″    $75.00
  • 16×20″    $125.00

(Because no extra charge for photo-work this is a very good deal)

You can make a collage not only of your children or grandchildren, but also of your pets; they don’t live as long as we and so there is often a loss and a sadness when they go. Here is a tribute to a smart cat who passed. He managed not only his owner but also all the other furry friends in the house. This big cat was unique in that he used his paw to eat. He lifted each morsel from the bowl and only then would he consume. Not a pretty cat, but can’t you just see the intelligence?

Here are some Picture-to-Artwork stories that we think you will enjoy:

“Picture Lady”, said the bride “ when we married we were as poor as church-mice.” She showed me the picture. The were young and quite attractive.

It was not a white wedding, but she was wearing a fine blue dress and while he was not in a tux his suit was dark and also appropriate. Behind them arched an old oak tree. So far, so good. They looked great.  The problem was that right behind the gorgeous couple and the gorgeous tree stood an ugly, beat-up gray-blue truck.  Not good. We changed the background to add more trees and flowers and some blue sky to match the bride’s dress and we gave them perfect wedding photos twenty years after the fact.

Some photographs go on some strange adventures! We were brought a photograph of a family that was taken back and forth in Africa, folded up in the father’s pocket as he fled from land to land to avoid civil strife. His family had been engaged in a project to relocate the family (all five children) to America. Mother came first and began training to be a nurse. This is how we met for we did an art show at her hospital. Each year she brought another child to freedom while the father staid in East Africa with those who had been left behind. Unfortunately after the last child (the eldest) came to America civil strife broke out in North East Africa and the father was forced to flee to save his life grateful that at least his family was now safe. While on the run he would take out a folded picture of his beloved family which he always kept in his pocket. It was this picture that kept his hopes and dreams alive that he would eventually be able to join them.

And he did. This is a story with a happy ending.

His wife brought the scratched picture he had carried so long in his pocket to me (now crusted with sweat and dirt). She asked if it could be recovered. They would have been able to have a new celebration family picture in America but the truth was that no other picture would have as much meaning. Could we fix and restore the picture? Yes indeed we could. But there was still an extra challenge. The picture was torn and the oldest daughter was missing cut in half on the right hand side of the photo.

We took her from a different photo and put her back into her family picture. Then we also fixed up the cracks and the photo damage. The father gave it to his wife for Mother’s Day. It sits in a place of honor in their living room.

We sometimes forget that not everybody has it as easy as we do in America.

Some of our better results are for precious family members who have passed.  The family needed a good picture of their mother, recently deceased; they wanted it for her celebration of life. The problem was this happy mother had been such a social person there was not a single photo of her alone; there were several children and not one had such a picture! There were many photos but always placing her in the middle of a group.

So we extracted her smiling face from a family photo and erased the busy background.  There she was finally alone in all her glory. I think if she was there at her special memorial event she would have liked that picture.

We have the skill to put your photos together to create a whole new family picture.
It is in the art of putting what is important in one picture together. The family had always remembered Poppa and Nanna with the house where the family met on special occasions. Here they are together with their lovely home.

final house

Our last story is from a customer who was raised by a grandmother and it had been a warm and sustaining relationship. The grandmother lived a long productive life and raised her grandchild with love and affection but she was older and she finally moved on.  Also gone were several of her siblings who had often been around the home while our customer was growing up.  She had many older (somewhat tattered black and white photographs

She chose to do her frames and pictures in sepia which gives that antique look.   It was a good call.

This is what she thought when it was done:

“My family loves the pictures. When you come into my home, the Heritage Wall is like a magnet and everybody goes there to admire it. It brings the family together providing us with a history – a pictorial story of the family including all our loved ones who have passed. You do really excellent work! Thank you so much” Carol B.W. Riverside

What do you need to know if you chose to do a Photo-to-Artwork with Picture Lady?

Our frames are exquisite.  We are also able to frame needlepoint. In addition to do Photo-to-Artwork we do custom framing.

frame one

ArTex makes the photo look like an oil painting when it really is not.  You would pay between $500 and $1000 for an oil on canvas even when it is a copy. With our service the cost to you is between $55.00 and $175.00 depending on the size and the frame. Nor do we charge for the photo work. We keep it simple.

What a great gift Photo-to-Artwork is for birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day and for Christmas!

The ache for home lives in all of us, a place to which we can go and be ourselves. It has to be a safe place into which we can retreat and not be questioned. It should also be a beautiful place, for beauty is uplifting and a pretty and comforting home is where we like to go to get recharged. When we have the people that we care about around us, even if they are not actually physically present but in the form of precious, enhanced photographs, it brings back past joys of sharing and this is what is sustaining.

The Story of Shea Butter

The African Sun can fill your Skin and Hair with Joy

African Shea Butter is made from the nut of the African Shea Tree, grown mostly in West Africa. It has been around for a long time but I had never heard of it until a year or two ago. I have been so impressed by Shea Butter that now I carry the product. It is unbeatable as a skin rejuvenator.

Because Shea Butter stimulates cellular activity, it is the king of all the vegetable butters, with skin care properties superior even to Cocoa Butter. It contains all the necessary rich fatty acids that rejuvenate and moisturize the skin, providing the essential vitamins needed to make the skin look and feel smoother, softer, and healthier.

The nut is most prolific in Ghana where successful efforts have been made to establish small ‘woman’ business enterprises to harvest the Shea Butter Nuts. Traditionally, the African women have processed the Shea Butter, and the successful methods they use have been passed down to them from generation to generation. It is only recently that they have had some help in marketing this superb product.

Buying Shea Butter is a good thing to do, because the money these women earn raises their standard of living. They are now only beginning to be able to afford basic necessities, like schools, clinics and clean water. Creating more independence for women raises the culture in a land. In fact it could raise the culture of the planet.

In the words of Hilary Clinton:

“Well, I see it now from the perspective of having traveled so extensively, and we know that where women are marginalized, where they’re demeaned, where their rights are denied, there is the likelihood you will have less democracy, more poverty, greater extremism. The United States is the model. I want to point out that it’s not only about American women, which of course is our first and foremost concern, but it’s about the example we set, and the message we send to women all around the world.” Hillary Clinton

Shea Butter Village

Why is Shea Butter only now catching on and gaining in popularity? Could it be that it is now easy to promote good products on the web?

This is a good product. The oil or butter promotes skin renewal, increasing circulation, and accelerating wound healing. Vitamins A & E soothe, balance and hydrates the skin, while providing the necessary skin collagen that handles wrinkles. Vitamin F is rich in fatty acids that repairs damaged skin and hair.

I am also convinced that Shea Butter is part of the reason I keep my natural hair color as I age. I have been using it now for over ten years and I have few if any gray hairs. Shea Butter has become an essential part of my senior quality of life.  Shea Butter as a skin care remedy also works for me. If I wake in the night I instinctively reach for my pot as it is as if the skin is asking for a boost. It is a delightful moisturizer – and it feels sooooo . . . good!

The Five Stages of Disease

Understanding Detoxification

suffering dog

Disease is really a process that goes through several stages before it appears as a specific medical disease. This alternative health concept is quite different than the medical concept that disease can appear suddenly where there was only health before. Likewise, in treatment for disease, alternative health differs from the medical concept of healing.

Alternative health sees the first three stages of disease as normal body processes to combat the toxic influences on the body. A cold helps to more rapidly detoxify the body with a runny nose and fever. From an alternative health point of view, it should be allowed to run its course. The body is handling the cause of future ill health by rapidly (if unpleasantly) detoxifying. Medicine sees the same cold symptoms and prescribes something to stop the symptoms (the sneezing, runny nose and fever) and therefore doesn’t address the actual cause of the cold.

You might look at “cold/flu season” as as nature attempting to clean out the body following the “holiday season” with its ritual overeating of meat and rich, sweet, alcoholic foods. If this detoxification is prevented, future problems are allowed to grow.

Tina Johnson and Dr. Chris Morris, a naturalistic doctor (one who uses food, herbs, water and natural means to cure; not surgery or drugs) explain it this way: The body becomes ill by stages. (I have used different names for these stages in the hope that the names are more recognizable.)

Elimination — When the body is first presented with toxic substances that impede the body’s normal function, the body attempts to eliminate them. Such substances could be from normal digestion such as uric acid from digesting meat; a bacterial infection such as strep throat; a bee sting or even pesticides. These would be neutralized by the liver and then eliminated through pooping, peeing, coughing, sweating or exhaling.

Irritation — When the body is overwhelmed by toxins and the normal elimination channels are not sufficient to expel all the toxins as they come in, the body throws additional means of elimination into gear. Such means might include skin rashes, bad breath, diarrhea, etc.

Inflammation— When even the additional means of elimination are overwhelmed and insufficient to handle the toxic load, the body tries to localize the toxins and the resulting location becomes inflamed: red, swollen, hot and painful. Calling it tonsillitis just says the toxins “have taken up residence” in the tonsils; tendonitis says they’ve accumulated in the tendons (the tough white bands at the end of muscles that anchor them to the bones). Fever, from an alternative health point of view, is very favorable as the high temperature kills viruses and bacteria if it is not prevented. A cold is the body’s way of eliminating toxins on a faster, broader scale.

All the above stages are usually quickly resolved and health restored if we catch the problem early and apply remedies to help the body heal itself. However, if they are ignored and the toxic load continues to overwhelm the body, the disease that is now obvious becomes very difficult to cure.

Chronic disease — If the body is prevented, instead of assisted in eliminating toxins, the body attempts to quarantine the toxins by sacrificing a particular organ or system to prevent death. Here, after all three of the preceding stages, we find growths and chronic disease such as ulcers, irritable bowel, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc.

Organ failure, or cancer — Unable to reverse the chronic disease(s), the body begins to die.

Note from Picture Lady

WARNING: your body starts the detoxification when you have too much “dirt in the system” – it is like a car, it runs much better when you have done the regular lube.

For those of us trapped in the rat-race and struggling to make a living by working 24/7 in a business, or doing a 9-5 job, we may need to cut back on the gradient.

When you begin to feel funny, a get cold-like symptoms – perhaps runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, rashes, headaches, or other aches and pains it is fine and well to know that this is just one big house-cleaning; but how are you cope with working!

Delox can sometimes get in the way of working.

We at Picture Lady Health have found some additional  products that expedite and alleviate the detox.

  • Baths with Epsom salts
  • Eliminator One promotes regularity: this is essential in moving the toxins through your body and out.
  • Eliminator Two – the Colon Cleanse. Do before you do a major cleanse.
  • Liver Cleanse – when experiencing adverse symptoms, we cut back on food and only juice two days in the week (can be done on a weekend) and take the herbal drops and teas. (If you work for yourself and work 24/7 because you also work on the weekend, don’t juice only  but also eat fruits and veggies.
  • To substitute for food when experiencing detox, we recommend this delicious green drink

  • Kidney Cleanse – herbal. This is very effective in increasing a feeling of well being after a weekend’s cleanse.
  • Natural Kidney cleanse: This is an effective and inexpensive blood thinner and kidney cleanse:Take the stems of cilantro and boil these for ten minutes at night.  Strain the water and refrigerate. Drink the juice.
  • We have discovered a food supplement that really works for us. It takes the stress out of life and will make the effects of a detox much easier on you. If this is of any interest to you,  please email me at lynn@picturelady.com for more info.

Downsizing

Moving to a Smaller Home. We are so used to “big” in America. With a European husband and raised in Africa, I may have a different view. This is how I see it, that when you choose a simpler lifestyle and consciously create an aesthetic transformation in your new-small-home, life actually gets easier. Perhaps the biggest benefit you are going to find is time. The less “stuff” you have the more time you seem to have. For life is not about what you wear, the stuff you own or the house you live in. It is about relationships. It may even be easier to create a cozy, welcoming atmosphere for your friends and family, leaving a troubled world outside, when the space is small and affordable. Mirror with lamps Mirrors are good, especially if placed alone on a short wall. (Note: You can select your mirror online with Picture Lady and we will bring it to the show) Here are some tips to help you decorate to do this. The first thing you absolutely MUST do is remove all the clutter
Furniture with a glass top, or a filigree, makes a room look more spacious. Rather than several different colors choose several shades of the same color. The small room will appear less fragmented Bright colors advance, and cooler colors recede. You want to choose cool colors like sage green or a soft teal or lavender for a small room. Much can be done to create the idea of a bigger room with a careful selection of pictures. Scenery that fades into the distance makes a room look twice the size.

Cafe at LakeChoose furniture that has built in storage, like nesting tables, or a bed with drawers or an ottoman. Choose only one or two medium sized pictures. A lot of small pictures make the room look busy. Sorry, that family photo-wall and that glass cabinet may have to go. There is a solution: Choose only two or three precious photos and turn these into a collage with PHOTO TO ARTWORK. (Remember the photo-work is free) Last but not least, every room deserves a little “bling”! Find one outstanding or unique item that makes everything around it look expensive. It doesn’t actually have to cost you much. In my sister’s front room her focal point is an antique lamp that she got for free at a flea market! May you have lots of fun decorating for downsizing! Grandparent’s Day

About Grandparents

Grandparents grew up in an easier age, when America was prosperous, and some were able to accumulate assets. If they managed their mortgage and investments wisely they are now able to be there for their children and grandchildren, providing needed help in these hard times. In that earlier, caring age giving help was fashionable.

We are forced nowadays to turn to our parents, or grandparents more often than we would like for some very needed financial help.

Giving them a photo-to-artwork is a delightful way to even the score and to say thank you.

collage

Some interesting senior citizen facts and statistics
  • Glamorous Grandparents: Today’s grandparents are not the sweet old bumblers we read about in Agatha Christie novels. The majority are working-age Boomers between the ages of 45 and 65 and they are a growing demographic: In 2010, there were an estimated 65 million grandmothers and grandfathers; by 2020, they predict this number will have grown to 80 million.
  • Affluent Grandparents: It is estimated that working grandparents command 46% of all household incomes. If you add in the grandparents who are no longer working, the share of the nation’s income rises to 60%. Where are they getting their money? Some have inherited from their parents and some still get generous pensions from the good old days when corporations treated workers as family.
  • Grandparents in the Downturn: They have been hit by the recession, especially if they did not invest wisely or give a priority to paying down their mortgage in the good times. Bad economic conditions are harder when you are old. But compare their rising share of the national income to the recorded income of their children’s generation which has declined from 43% to 36%.
  • Helping Grandparents: Households with ages 55 or older spent 7.6 billion on infant foods, child equipment, toys, games & tricycles, a 71% increase since 1999. It is not unusual for grandparents to invite a laid off son or daughter into the home with their children. Grandparents still belong to a generation where it was all about sharing and caring.
  • Achieving Grandparents: In March 2009 a 100 year old Canadian swimmer set a new world record in back-stroke. He was able to swim 100 meters in just 3 minutes and 52 seconds. In August in Huntsville a 91 year old grandmother and her granddaughter in the family canoe, won first place in the Fox Lake Regatta.

Often children visit the grandparents during the summer months.  This gives parents time together and time for work, or time for special work projects. A Photo-to-Artwork gift is a great way to say thank you.  If it is ordered early you will have it well in time for Grandparent’s Day on 7th September

When a grandparent passes often it is good to create a portrait to keep them in living memory in the family. This keeps the heritage alive.

How to Stay Healthy

Orthodox Medicine and the New Wellness Movement

Your first step to finding true health and a quality of life is to seek out true knowledge in the field of health. To attain a quality of life one needs stable data. A good starting point is to define the two main schools of healing, for each should have its proper place in your life,.

There are two schools of healing, “Orthodox Medicine” and the “Wellness Movement,” sometimes called Alternative or Integrative Health. Neither is exclusively right. Both schools have good and bad doctors. Orthodox Medicine has good and bad medications, good and bad procedures, and the Wellness Movement has good and bad adjustments and supplements.

People are different and we all respond differently to healing. We even respond differently at different times. For this reason neither approach is the one and only.  There are times when  it is right to seek an orthodox solution, and but for most of the time it is possible to save money and a gain better control of your health by finding a doctor who practices Orthodox and Alternative or Integrative Medicine.  The Wellness Movement has many effective solutions especially in the area of prevention.

These are relevant questions: When do you want to see a doctor, when a chiropractor, when a therapist, and when a nutritionist?  Also when is it right to go to the Emergency room?

What is Orthodox Medicine

bottles of pills

Orthodox medicine (or conventional medicine) is founded on western principles, and uses therapies such as drug therapy, surgery, and psychiatry.  It seeks to alleviate pain and discomfort, and it traditionally treats symptoms rather than causes. Over the last century orthodox medicine has codified an arsenal of new effective breakthroughs like cataract surgery, non invasive laser surgery and DNA testing.

This is not necessarily a wrong solution, nor is it always the right solution, for it  is dependent on how far the bad condition of the body has advanced.  Natural healers who throw out surgery, chemo or laser therapy are as far off base as the orthodox cut-happy Surgeon who sees $$$$ in the slightest malaise.

I have a friend given back surgery who was actually doing well with chiropractic. She now still has her pain but she can no longer go to a chiropractor. She used to work but now she cannot. Another friend suffered from incontinence which can be handled by exercise and or internal adjustments.  She was given a net to lift up her organs. This petroleum net lasted less than six months until the body reacted adversely to the foreign object. She too has suffered.  If you have any doubts at all about a procedure always seek a second opinion.

It is important to correctly judge when a condition has advanced beyond the point where the body can heal itself; so it is always wise to do the blood work, do the x-rays and to find out as much information as you can before getting surgery or taking toxic medicines. It is never a good idea to go ahead blindly.  It is your body and you will have to live with the consequences if what has been done is wrong.

In conclusion Orthodox medicine sees a dangerous situation in the body, and correctly bypasses its natural healing properties. In a truly dangerous situation like an accident this is the way to go.

What is Alternative Medicine?
This is a natural approach that has been growing as more new knowledge comes in from the east (via the Internet) or is resurrected from a time before orthodox medicine gained its funding and its acceptance.

Wellness is based on Balance
Alternate medicine includes old folk remedies and many herbal cures.  The basic premise on which alternative therapies operate is that sickness is often self limiting; for the body can heal itself if its balance or communication is restored.   In a little while the pain or discomfort goes away, leaving in its wake a sense of well-being. Most alternate therapies seek to help the body to heal itself – Alternate medicine looks at the fact that many “symptoms” are detox-crises – that any bad condition can be monitored and that it is often short lived. So why take medicine which is toxic or undergo unnecessary surgery when it is going to fix itself with rest and good eating. When not feeling well, it could be that the body is simply ridding itself of toxins.

Chinese medicine is one example of an alternative medical system. Chinese medicine has a variety of therapies, including Acupuncture, and Chinese Herbal medicine. Alternative medicine also includes Naturopathy, Chiropractic & Homeopathy. Naturopathic medicine grew out of alternative healing systems of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, but traces its philosophical roots to Ancient Greece (circa 400 BC).

A newcomer to the Wellness Industry is Alkaline Water.. The Ph of the blood has a great deal to do with your health and the body’s ability to fight off infection. Eating well takes time to organize, time and to prepare the foods and eating organic is expensive. You  may have the best of intentions but it may just not be practical to make it actually happen. About water; not all water is the same.  The basic premise of water therapy is that the body is 70% water. It operates on the premise that if properly hydrated the body is better able to shed accumulated toxins. This is a proven concept.

The Wellness Movement focuses on a healthy balance in the  body, but also a balance of mind, body and spirit.   How you live, how you eat, and how you think and love are all important and to organize your life so that what you do results in an overall feeling of well being.

The trick is for the doctor (but even more important for you) to know when to use what remedy.  As we evolve we may find that there are healers who are well educated in, and able to effectively practice both Orthodox and Integrative Medicine,  as did Hippocrates.

Valentine’s Day

Many have touched the edges of my life – coming and going and scarcely leaving an impression. But you are uncommon. You and you alone have made a difference in my life.
You bring me warmth and you bring me cheer and more affection than the last four relationships I only partly enjoyed.

So on Valentine’s Day as I find myself human alone this year, I am grateful.  I think just how very special you are. I want us always to stay cuddly close!

Delicious Green Drink

Basic Green Drink

Recipe for Green Drink (kids even like this one)

Into a blender throw one banana and some other fruit. I use peaches or pears or an apple.

Chop up one raw zucchini. Add a handful of TJs chopped greens (often chard or whatever is available that is chopped and cleaned and easy from TJs) Add one heaped tablespoon of TJs green berry powder. Add Kangen water just to cover the fruit and veggies. If you don’t have a Kangen machine (sadness) use Crystal Geyser. You do want water that is alkaline in this drink, for your best health results.

Blend and serve on Ice.

May you live a long and healthy life.

Snap-e Pie

Quick and Easy and Healthy also!

Snap-e Pie has become a popular meal in my home. I bake at least two or sometimes even three pies in a week. We like them but I love them even more.for they are easy on my wallet and a good protein substitute for meat and also gluten-free.   Best of all they are easy to make.  One pie takes ten minutes to prepare, and twenty-five minutes in an oven at 300 degrees. There is usually enough in a pie to continue eating for two or three days, unless the kids fall in love and gobble it up, which is entirely possible!

I started making Snap-e Pies because I wanted more protein and a freedom from gluten.

(When we all began eating Snap-e Pies there was an additional bonus. We became “regular” – this was from the psyllium; psyllium is a husk-like product that gives roughage. It can be bought at TJs. )

Here is the basic recipe.

4 eggs
A half a tub of TJs whipped cream cheese ($1.99)
A half a cup of Psyllium or a cup rolled oats (gluten free if you or family members are gluten-sensitive)
A pinch of salt
A pinch of baking soda

Separate the eggs, putting the yokes in the blender together with the cream cheese.

Whip the egg whites with the salt until so stiff that the little eruptions stand up firmly.

Blend the eggs and cheese and fold into the whipped whites. Add the Psyllium and the pinch of baking soda and mix thoroughly. Bake in a baking pan at 300 degrees for twenty five minutes.

This basic pie is delicious if you serve it with butter and Marmite. Marmite is a spread rich in Vita B1 and is an acquired taste. Your kids may love it or hate it. Adults usually love it and so do animals because of the B vitamin factor.   If your kids hate Marmite, serve instead with butter and marmalade.

Sweet Snap-e Pie

(Here are some sweet variations It is the same basic recipe)

To the blender with the cheese and egg yokes, add grated apple and grated coconut. To the final mix add oats rather than Psyllium and finally, just before baking, add a little box of raisins. Garnish with baked, sliced coconut. (Instead of the coconut you can use honey roasted sliced almonds or spicy pecans.)

 Or

Use banana or peach or pears instead of the apple. Blend thoroughly before adding to the egg whites. I almost always add raisins to my sweet Snap-e Pies.

Snap-E with Sausage and Cottage Cheese

Snap-E with Sausage and Cottage Cheese

Savory Snap-e Pie.

(These can serve as a meal replacement rather than a snack)

Chop Up a zucchini and press some ginger into the mixture in the blender. Add raisins. It is a sweet and savory variation..

Or

Add hummus to the egggs and cheese. Then add lentils to the final mixture and spread a layer of TJ lentils on top of the savory pie covered with a layer of salsa. Garnish with grated cheese. Yum – delicious.

Or

Add TJs chopped Asian vegetables to the final mixture. It is kind of crunchy and I serve it with marmite and butter. My husband likes this one

 Or

Add cooked spinach to the final mixture and garnish with a thick layer of cheese. Trim with tomato slices.

With the basic recipe so easy and quick and truly healthy, there is no end to the variations you can create. Easy & Delicious!
